The desertification of cultures and the dereliction of the individual- a comparative intercultural study in Turkey, China, Algeria and France av Roger B. Sages
The attraction of big cities and the mythology around supporting them give
the impression that this would be the only real modernity accessible to modern man. Maybe as a reflection of the advance of capitalism and its need
to concentrate the labour necessary for its development, with its effort to restrain the individual within his activity and in his relationships with others.
So the necessity of being aware of a «universe»or living in one declared as a
universally valid for everyone and everywhere.
This had two complementary harmful effects. Firstly, the progressive desertification of the countryside, forests, fields of cultivation and breeding. Hence the second effect, the dereliction of the individual.
This research is based on a phenomenological empirical approach as described in the other book of the same author” Meaning Constitution Analysis”.
The following four countries are studied: France, Turkey, China, France and
Algeria.
