In 1986 an exhibition of paintings by pioneers of modern art was held in Los Angeles. Among the artists shown was an unknown Swedish woman artist: Hilma af Klint (1862-1944). Visitors to the exhibition were amazed. Who was she? What was the background to these unique paintings? Mysticism in the form of occultism, alchemy and theosophy has always attracted artists of all disciplines throughout the ages for there are different forms of esoteric knowledge. Hilma af Klint regarded her life´s work, the paintings and the notes, as a task from the Theosophists and Rosicrucians.
