Journalism education came to most of the Nordic countries in the 1960s. It was introduced
within media systems, known as “the Nordic model”. Since then, journalism
education has developed in close cooperation between universities and institutes
across the Nordic countries.
This anthology gives a broad picture of Nordic journalism education. In the 19 chapters
of this book, researchers and educators write about this development and how challenges
in contemporary journalism are met in courses and through teaching. Using
a variety of data and methodological approaches, ranging from large cross-national
surveys to qualitative interviews with students, teachers and professionals, this anthology
provides a broad picture of Nordic journalism education.
