19th century folklorist and journalist, Charles Godfrey Leland's ARADIA is one of the most important foundational texts of the contemporary pagan and wiccan communities. Originally published in 1899, this text is based upon the ancient teachings transmitted to him from a practising Italian witch by the name of Maddelena. It is one of the earliest documentary testaments to the genuine survival of ancient European witchcraft and pagan goddess religion well in the 19th century. As a result, it has become the inspiration for the 20th century resurrection/reconstruction of magickal beliefs. This is a “must-have” for all committed pagans who seek to develop a faith rooted in history and tradition.
