Victoria future queen of Sweden
Victoria future queen of Sweden
On June 19, 2010 the wedding will take place of Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling from Ockelbo. This is a historic date in many ways. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia Sommerlath were married on June 19, 1976. And the year 2010 is exactly 200 years since Victoria’s ancestor, Jean Bernadotte, was chosen as heir apparent to the Swedish throne.
Victoria was not born as the Crown Princess. She was given that title when she was two and a half years old, in 1980, when the Swedish Parliament instituted fully-cognatic order of succession. No successor to the throne has been given such a goal-oriented education. Our future queen, Victoria I, has prepared herself for her forthcoming mission with an inquisitive mind, energy and enthusiasm.
In this book Herman Lindqvist provides a personal and initiated account of the Crown Princess. The book is based on a series of conversations they have had and it is thus, to a large extent, Victoria’s account. It is richly illustrated with some hundred pictures from the Princess’s life, most taken by Charles Hammarsten who has followed Victoria since her birth.
