Encounters. On three films by Manon de Boer
The idea of the encounter as a creative process has been the starting point for this publication, in which four artists have addressed Manon de Boer’s film trilogy:
Sylvia Kristel – Paris (2003),
Resonating Surfaces (2005) and
Think about Wood, Think about Metal (2011). They have done so in a variety of formats, but in all cases from a position within their own practices. The contributions by Sven Augustijnen, Marine Hugonnier, George van Dam, and Tris Vonna-Michell can be seen as manifestations of resonance in their respective work, in a process similar to that which takes place in the films themselves.
Manon de Boer is an artist and filmmaker based in Brussels. Her films can be seen as surveys into aspects of time and narrative; body, voice and sound.
